Hiking Boots design was staidly functional for use out of doors
, but they quickly became fashion items which have been, and still are, worn well outside the practical context for which they were first intended.
 The boot is basically a shoe with a "leg" that rises, at the very least, to the ankle, but which sometimes climbs to the knee and can even extend halfway up the thigh. Its history has always been linked to the
military, outdoor boots, and in fact the evolution of the boot can be traced right back to the Roman legions.
