Leather Boots

Boots were made from the sturdiest leather with thick toecaps for protection. Later, the toecaps were reinforced with steel. Tough workmen's boots evolved into the western footsoldier's army hoot in the 1800s. In town, gentlemen of the 1800s did not need stout walking hoots as they rode everywhere, and their leather boots had high heels to grip the stirrups. riding boots were made of soft leather and elaborately decorated, with patterns cut in the uppers, turnovers of fine lace or intricately sculpted leather, and extra side panels of leather. The tops were sometimes turned down, with a panel of a second color under a scalloped t rim. Mort' often the inside of the boot was a different color.
